Andre Haines

In 1985, after attending Mount Allison U, and Acadia U as a student of music (oboe) and theatre , Andre went to NYC and graduated from AMDA.

“My musical theatre teacher was the first female conductor on Broadway. I spent many years performing, directing and composing for stage, film and television. I taught at Acadia U for 4 years, and the MCPA, as well as running my own vocal studio” Andre says.

As time progressed, Andre developed a stronger leaning towards visual arts and that grew into a parallel career.

“Now I focus all my artistic passions towards my paintings”.

Andre’s works are included in both private and corporate collections around the world. In April 2021 he was honoured in the NS Legislature for 30 years of contributing to the artistic life of NS. Andre is one of Canada’s most prolific artists, and moved to Saint John to continue his artistic journey.

“Saint John has made me feel welcome! I am excited to be a part of this vibrant culture”.

Andre completed 6 months as inaugural Artist In Residence for The Saint John City Market and Stone Church. He works internationally and from his private studio here in Saint John. He published three children’s books this past year in his series The Adventures of Heureux!
